  I’ve just gained my PPL through Academy Aviation, and I can confidently say that choosing this school was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. My instructor, Josh, has been an outstanding mentor throughout my journey. He’s regularly given up his own free time outside of lessons to help me better understand subjects for ground exams, prepare for upcoming flights, and answer any questions I had. His patience, encouragement, and dedication has made an enormous difference, and I genuinely wouldn’t be where I am today without his support. The owner, Eddie, is incredibly knowledgeable and a brilliant teacher. He also goes above and beyond to ensure every student has the best possible chance of success. I attended his ground school for a few ground exam subjects that I was struggling with, and every time I walked out with my questions answered, my confidence restored, and a much better understanding of the material. I then went on to pass those exams with flying colours. Every instructor I’ve met at Academy Aviation is genuinely passionate about flying and teaching. They’re always happy to answer questions, offer advice, or simply have a friendly chat. This is a school that’s genuinely invested in helping every student progress efficiently and succeed, without wasting your money on what isn’t necessary. The sense of community is unlike anything I’ve experienced elsewhere. The clubhouse is always full of friendly conversations, debates, and people willing to share their knowledge (and at least once a week, Eddie will tell the story of flying his aircraft home from California!). Students support one another, and it’s common to see former students drop in for a chat, seek advice on the next stage of their flying careers, or share their latest experiences with those still in training (or just pop in for a cup of tea!). Many times after my lessons I’ve ended up staying for hours simply because the company is so enjoyable, and you always end up learning something new. If you’re thinking about learning to fly, I honestly can’t recommend Academy Aviation highly enough. The pricing is competitive, the quality of instruction is exceptional, the aircraft are extremely well maintained, and the availability of instructors and aircraft is excellent. North Weald Airfield is also a fantastic place to learn. There’s something special about waiting behind a Spitfire for take-off, and with so much activity around the airfield, every visit feels exciting. Book a trial lesson and see for yourself!   I can’t recommend  Academy Aviation⁠ enough. From day one, everyone has been incredibly welcoming and supportive, creating a fantastic environment to learn in. The fleet is excellent, with well-maintained aircraft that make training enjoyable and professional. The ground school is also brilliant, providing a strong foundation for anyone looking to pursue a career in aviation and helping students develop a solid understanding of the theory behind flying. What really stands out is the dedication of the instructors. They genuinely go above and beyond, working day and night to help their students progress, build confidence, and achieve their goals. A special mention to Eddie, who is not only an excellent instructor but also a genuinely great person who always takes the time to help and encourage his students. Terry is also a fantastic instructor whose knowledge, professionalism, and supportive attitude make every lesson valuable.   I completed my PPL training at Academy Aviation a few months back and honestly could not recommend them enough. The instructors were knowledgeable, supportive, approachable, and genuinely invested in helping all the students succeed. Everyone at the school created a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere whilst still maintaining a very professional standard of training. I met so many like-minded people during my time there and made some amazing friends along the way. What I appreciated most was that the training was efficient. There was no wasting time on nonsense, they got straight to what needed to be done whilst still making sure everything was properly understood and completed to a high standard. An excellent flight school for anyone looking to begin or continue their aviation journey. Thank you to Eddie, Deniz and everyone at Academy for helping me achieve my PPL!

  I chose Academy Aviation for my PPL after a lot of research and having had two previous lessons at a different flight school. I am so glad that I chose Academy Aviation for my training. The atmosphere is super friendly and the flight training is second to none. The instructors are fantastic and really are the best at what they do. There’s a large fleet of aircraft to choose from, each one exceptionally maintained to the highest standards. If you are looking for an exceptional ATO to take you from zero to PPL (and even further) this is the one.

  I’ve had an excellent experience with Academy Aviation, particularly during their one-week PPL ground school. I came from an integrated flight school that shut down their UK CAA path and has left me to my own devices, AA have helped me get up on my feet and helped me achieve my PPL. The way the course was structured really helped build my understanding from the ground up. It streamlined the learning process and made complex topics much easier to grasp in a short amount of time. The instruction was clear, engaging, and delivered by knowledgeable instructors who genuinely care about student progress. They took the time to ensure I not only learned the material but actually understood it, which has made a huge difference in my confidence as a pilot. Beyond the classroom, the team has been very supportive with practical aspects like flight planning, always willing to offer guidance and share their experience. This hands-on support has been invaluable in developing my overall competence. One of the standout aspects of Academy Aviation is the strong sense of community. You’re surrounded by passionate, like-minded pilots who support and motivate each other, creating a really positive and encouraging environment. Overall, I’d highly recommend Academy Aviation to anyone starting their aviation journey.   Would highly recommend this place for PPL ground school. What Eddie doesn’t know isn’t worth knowing - and if you’re lucky he might tell you about the time he flew his plane back from America! But in all seriousness, great firm and worth going to.

  I recently completed all nine of my PPL exams with Academy Aviation and achieved an average of 97%, which I believe speaks volumes about the quality of their teaching. The instruction was clear, focused, and tailored exactly to what you need to succeed in the exams without overcomplicating things. Complex topics were broken down in a way that made them easy to understand and retain. What really stood out to me was the environment. From the moment I arrived, everyone was incredibly welcoming and supportive. It genuinely felt more like a family than a training school, which made a huge difference, especially during such an intense week. The instructors were always approachable, patient, and willing to go the extra mile to make sure no one was left behind. The structure of the course is extremely well thought out, allowing you to cover all subjects efficiently while still giving you the confidence to sit each exam. The preparation provided is more than enough if you put the effort in, and the results reflect that. This is easily one of the best decisions I’ve made in my training so far. The standard of teaching, the atmosphere, and the results you can achieve here set Academy Aviation apart from others. If you’re committed and ready to put the work in, they will give you everything you need to succeed at a very high level.
